Labourer arrested with improvised firearm at street party

A 24-year-old labourer of Block ‘F’ North, Sophia, Greater Georgetown was arrested just after midnight on Friday with an orange improvised firearm and three 9mm rounds of ammunition.

Anthony Bumbury was at a street party on Pike Street, Sophia when he was arrested. He was questioned by ranks from the Alberttown Police Station on whether he was the holder of a firearm license and he said “No”.

The suspected improvised firearm and ammunition were marked in his presence, placed into separate evidence bags, sealed and lodged to be taken to the ballistics section for analysis. Investigations are ongoing.
