A radio host who was arrested with just over 30 lbs of marijuana earlier on Friday on the Weldaad Public Road has made her first court appearance.
Shaima Muna, 27, a radio host and singer from Charlestown, Georgetown, appeared at the Weldaad Magistrates’ Court, where she was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, specifically 14 kg and 515 grams of cannabis.
The charge was brought under Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.
Muna appeared before Magistrate R. Mohabir, where the charge was read to her. She pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison until October 04, when a probation report will be provided.

Muna was arrested during a stop-and-search operation on the Weldaad Public Road. The narcotics were discovered in the boot of her car, which bore the licence plate number PAB 6190.
The search revealed a red and blue travelling bag containing parcels wrapped in transparent plastic, suspected to be narcotics.
The red bag held two bulky parcels and one small parcel, while the blue bag contained two bulky parcels.
Police said Muna admitted ownership of the narcotics, claiming that her mother is hospitalised and that she took a risk in an effort to assist with her medical bills.
