Several roads in Georgetown to be closed during India’s PM 3-day visit

During November 19 – 21 there will be temporary road closures to facilitate the historic visit of the Prime Minister of India.

Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, is set to arrive in Guyana on Tuesday for a three-day visit, following President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s invitation.

The two leaders are expected to delve into a wide array of issues, with particular emphasis on military cooperation and addressing the challenges of climate change.

Based on release from Police Headquarters, the following closures should be noted:

In the vicinity of State House from 18:00 hrs

Carmichael street between Middle Street and New Market Street- No entry North
New Market Street between Carmichael Street and Main Street- No entry West.
Main Street Eastern Carriageway – No entry South from Lamaha Street.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and use alternative routes, take directions from the uniformed ranks, and park within designated spaces.
