National youth cricketer Trilok Nanan recently achieved a personal milestone, scoring his maiden century playing for Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in the Georgetown Cricket Association’s ‘Friends of Cricket’ Second Division Two-Day competition.
Batting at number three against Positive Foundation Agricola at the GCC ground, the diminutive right-hander stroked 104 not out off 140 balls in GCC’s 232-6 declared.
The national Under-15 player struck 12 fours in his knock, which laid the foundation for a massive 267-run victory.
Scores in the match: GCC 232-6d and 218-9d; Positive Foundation Agricola 100 all out and 83 all out.

“It was a great feeling knowing that I made my first hundred at the Second Division level for the Georgetown Cricket Club,” 15-year-old Nanan told News Room Sport.
“On the morning before the game started the coaches said someone had to step up and get a big score in this game and I felt as though I was going to be the one to do it.”
One of the challenges for young Nanan, who is under the tutelage of coaches Peter Persaud and Martin Pestano-Belle, was battling through the ‘nervous 90s.’
“I was a bit nervous when I was approaching the landmark, but I just held my nerve and as I reached my hundred I was very relieved and proud of myself for reaching the milestone, which is my first hundred and happy to know that I came not out,” the soft-spoken youth said.
“I always get the support from my family along with other club members in every game that I play, as well as the coaches, who have been working with me to improve my game.”
Now that he has breached the triple-figure mark, Nanan is aiming for consistency and many more centuries as he looks to make his mark on the game.
As part of the club’s developmental plan, coach Persaud has been exposing the Under-15 cricketers to Second Division matches and Nanan’s accomplishment is testament to the success of that move.
