The third One Guyana/Kashif and Shanghai President’s Futsal Championship continued on Thursday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with four more teams tasting success.
The largest margin of victory was recorded in the final match when New Central High topped Bishops’ High 6-0.
This match also saw the fastest goals scored. By the end of the first minute, Central was already up 2-0, Caedon Micheal scoring on the first run down followed by another strike from Danger Michael within seconds.
Bishops’ played with heart in this inaugural tournament, but were no match for New Central High as the winners controlled play with ease. Michael completed a brace in the match when he fired home again in the third minute.
Trevor Gordon accounted for the next three goals which were scored in the sixth, 10th and 16th minute.
South Ruimveldt were 3-1 victors over VYC Academy, led by a double off the boot of Odediah Munroe who found the back of the nest in the fourth and 11th minutes.
His teammate, Devonte Gaime accounted for the other goal in the seventh minute. VYC’s consolation goal was scored by Casmir Thomas in the 14th minute.
Charlestown edged West Minister 2-1, thanks to goals from Dequan Hetsberger (4th) and Colwin Kissoon (20th).
West Minister played well and if they had put away the chances created, the result could have been different. Their consolation goal was netted by Keandre Carr in the 15th minute.
Thursday’s opening match saw St. John’s College coasting to a 4-1 win over St. Joseph’s High on account of two goals apiece from Jasiah Nedd (second and 23rd) and Akeem Stephens (fourth and 20th) with St. Joseph’s lone strike coming in the 22nd minute from Laurel George.
