Police are investigating the death of a 75-year-old man who was found with suspected stab wounds at his home in Stanleytown on the West Bank of Demerara early on Friday.
Police said Athlone Goring, who had recently arrived in Guyana, was discovered lying on the upper flat of his residence at about 05:40 hrs. He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.
The body has been taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home and is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigators have questioned several people in connection with the case and arrested two suspects – a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman – who remain in custody as inquiries continue.
Police said closed-circuit television footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
