Former national cricketer and proprietor of Star Rentals, Lennox Cush, has opened his third major business branch in Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara, marking a significant expansion into the rapidly developing Region Three.
The new facility builds on the success of the branches in Kitty and New Amsterdam.
Cush, a key member of the iconic 2006 squad that won the inaugural Stanford T20 title, revealed at the opening ceremony that the company was born out of both necessity and strategic advice.
Following a career-ending knee injury, Cush sought a path beyond the boundary ropes in 2009.
“It was Looknauth Persaud [of Kings Jewellery World] who offered the advice on how to build a life off the field,” Cush told guests, including several government ministers.
Government ministers at the event highlighted that large-scale infrastructure projects—including the new Bharrat Jagdeo River Bridge—have created a “spin-off” effect, making the region increasingly attractive for commercial investment.

Minister Steven Jacobs, who described Cush as a longtime mentor, said the company’s success was a testament to “resilience and humility.”
“In the early years, it was Cush himself fetching the equipment and creating the service lists,” Jacobs noted. “This should serve as a model for young entrepreneurs across Guyana.”
Since its establishment, Star Rentals has grown from a fledgling startup into a primary resource for Guyana’s event industry.
The company provides a full suite of services, ranging from wedding décor and themed parties to large-scale trade shows and conventions.
Beyond the commercial success, Cush is also looking to integrate into the local community. Minister Vikash Ramkissoon confirmed that the company has already begun planning social projects to support the less fortunate in Region Three.
As Guyana’s economy continues its upward trajectory, Cush indicated that Star Rentals will continue to eye further expansion into other underserved regions across the country.
