Police probe incident involving 14-year-old East Bank Demerara student

Police have launched an investigation into an alleged incident involving a 14-year-old female student from East Bank Demerara.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday at around 18:00 hrs.

According to preliminary investigations, the teen was allegedly transported in an unconscious state to a residence in Sophia by other juveniles. She was later escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where she was admitted for medical treatment.

Police said the teen is now conscious and remains in stable condition.

Initial enquiries further revealed that the teenager was reportedly in the company of the juveniles before she became unconscious. Allegations have also been made that alcohol may have been consumed.

No arrests have been made so far, however, investigators have already interviewed several individuals as part of the ongoing probe. Police are also making efforts to locate three juveniles who were reportedly present at the time of the incident.

Investigations are continuing.
