KFC Guyana renews title sponsorship for National School Basketball Festival

KFC Guyana has confirmed it will return as the title sponsor for the 19th edition of the National School Basketball Festival (NSBF), cementing the tournament’s status as the premier pathway for youth talent in the country.

The partnership, unveiled at the KFC Vlissengen Road Headquarters, ensures the continued growth of a competition that has become the “breeding ground” for Guyana’s national representatives.

The 2026 season officially tips off later this month with the Regional Championships, serving as the rigorous qualifying gauntlet for the main event scheduled for June 28 to July 5.

This year’s edition is expected to be one of the most expansive to date. Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) confirmed that qualifiers will be staged across Regions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10, potentially seeing over 70 schools compete for a spot in the national finals.

“Partnerships such as this are critical in ensuring that the festival remains a truly national championship,” said Chris Bowman, Co-Director of YBG. “It provides structured competitive opportunities for schools and young athletes across the entire geographical spread of Guyana.”

KFC joins long-term partners Edward B. Beharry & Company Ltd and G-Boats Guyana in supporting the YBG grassroots development programmes.

Representing KFC Guyana, HR Manager Nathely Caleb-Mars emphasised that the sponsorship is about more than just the sport. “KFC is proud to support an initiative that creates meaningful opportunities for young people while positively impacting schools and communities,” she stated.
