Girl, 2, drowns at Kabakaburi Mission 

A two-year-old girl drowned on Saturday at Kabakaburi Mission, Upper Pomeroon River.

Dead is Samirah Evans of Kabakaburi Mission.

According to a Police release, preliminary investigations revealed that about 12:30hrs Saturday, the child was at home with her mother. However, she was later discovered missing.

A search was subsequently conducted by relatives and residents of the community.

At about 17:30hrs, the child’s body was discovered floating in the Pomeroon River in the vicinity of Warapana, approximately one mile from the Kabakaburi Mission landing.

The body was retrieved and escorted to the Oscar Joseph Public Hospital, where it was examined and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. It is presently awaiting a post-mortem examination.
