Odyssey Sightseeing Tours T20 tournament bowls off March 29 in West Demerara

A total of 17 teams will from Sunday (March 29) commence battle in the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) T20 tournament, sponsored by Odyssey Sightseeing Tours Guyana Inc.

At a simple ceremony at this North Road branch in Georgetown, Managing Director of Odyssey Sightseeing Tours Guyana Inc. Feroze Barakat confirmed his company’s alliance with the WDCA, presenting the sponsorship to president of the Association Azeem Khan in the presence of other executives.

Barakat said his he is impressed with the development of cricket in West Demerara, hence his decision to offer support.

He urged the WDCA executive to continue working in the best interest of the sport, adding that his company stands ready to support the game in the jurisdiction.

Khan welcomed the sponsorship and thanked Barakat and his business establishment for being loyal supporters of the WDCA.

The participating teams are: West Demerara Renegade, West Coast Warriors, Zeelugt North, Zeelugt Sports Club, West Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Club, East Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Demerara MYO, Region Three Police, Leonora Cricket Club, Leonora B, Cornelia Ida, Windsor Center Team, Windsor Viper, La Grange All Stars, Goed Fortuin CC, Vains Youth and Uitvlugt CC.

Matches will be played at Uitvlugt, West Meten-Meer-Zorg, Zeelugt and Windsor Forest.

The teams will be placed in groups to play in a round-robin format with the top teams moving forward to the next stage of the tournament, which has over G$200,000 in cash and prizes at stake.
