Attention shifts to Jumbo Jet’s $10M Nitro Kart Clash

The focus of the Guyanese motorsport community has shifted toward the upcoming Nitro Kart Clash, with organisers confirming a total prize pool of G$10 million for the event on April 19.

Following the success of last weekend’s Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club’s Kart Revival, interest in the meeting at the National Stadium, Providence, has reached a level that has forced organisers to expand the venue’s capacity.

Jumbo Jet Events, the body behind the promotion, confirmed that entry will be free for all local drivers to widen the field.

The Providence Stadium parking lot is set to undergo a significant transformation into a custom-built racing circuit.

The redesign includes a new track layout, increased pit capacity, and expanded spectator accommodations to handle what is expected to be a record turnout.

“We are seeing a level of interest that exceeded early projections,” an event promoter said. “At this point, we simply have no more room—not for bleachers or pitting. We are committed to delivering a complete experience and are not prepared to compromise because of venue limitations.”

Working alongside the GMR&SC, the event aims to position karting as the primary entry point for the next generation of regional racing talent.

The race programme is extensive, featuring categories for all ages and engine specifications:

  • Cadets & Juniors: Briggs & Stratton classes for ages 6–12 and 13–15.
  • Senior Classes: 125 cc IAME two-stroke and 200 cc Honda 4-stroke.
  • Specialist Events: A five-lap Time Attack open category and 250cc Supermoto bike racing.

The event has drawn significant corporate backing from several Guyanese firms, including Banks DIH and AJM Enterprise. Organisers believe the infrastructure being put in place will set a new benchmark for the sport in the South American nation.

“This is not just about putting on a race,” the promoter added. “It’s about delivering something that Guyana and the Caribbean can be proud of. This is just the beginning.”

With track preparations already underway at Providence, the event is poised to be a landmark moment for the local racing scene. (Modified Jumbo Jet Press Release)
