An autopsy has confirmed that Arif Azeez, a 15-year-old student, died by drowning compounded by multiple injuries.
Azeez died on Monday at the Hot and Cold Lake, Essequibo Coast. His bodies found on Tuesday.
According to Police Headquarters, a post-mortem examination was conducted on Tuesday by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Suddie Hospital Mortuary, Essequibo Coast. He gave the cause of death as drowning compounded by multiple injuries.
The body was subsequently handed over to relatives for burial.
Initial enquiries revealed that Azeez had gone to the lake on an outing with friends and was operating a jet ski when he allegedly fell into the water and disappeared. An alarm was raised, and searches were immediately carried out by persons in the area in an effort to locate Azeez.
