Investigators are probing the cause of a fire which claimed the life of an 18-year-old boy at Imbaimadai Village, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) on Friday.
Dead is Lendon Cornelius.
The News Room was informed that the fire started around 21:30hrs. At the time, Cornelius was home alone.
The News Room understands that when the fire erupted, Cornelius, who had a disability, was trapped in the building.
Screams were heard coming from the house but despite efforts to save him, Cornelius perished.
Fire Chief (ag) Gregory Wickham told the News Room that no official report was made to the Guyana Fire Service. Upon learning about the fire, however, a team of fire investigators was immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate the fire.
Wickham said fire officials will be working together with the Police to determine the case of the blaze.
