GFF boosts refereeing ranks with FIFA course

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has upgraded its refereeing corps with the successful completion of a FIFA-backed training course. The five-day program, held at the National Training Centre in Providence, saw 20 officials from across the country enhance their skills.

The course, funded by FIFA, aimed to elevate refereeing standards to international levels. Participants were immersed in the latest FIFA Laws of the Game.

GFF Head Referee Lenval Peart highlighted the programme’s importance, stating, “This FIFA-funded initiative brings world-class training to our doorstep. We’ve expanded our pool of skilled referees, which is crucial for the sport’s growth.”

Peart emphasized that while the course targeted experienced officials, it also served as a talent identification platform for future refereeing stars.
