Mark Chester, a 29-year-old labourer from Queenstown, was charged with attempted murder on Wednesday, August 7. The charge stems from an alleged attack on Marlon Jones, a 45-year-old self-employed resident of Lot 2 Queenstown, on April 12, 2024.
The case at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, was presided over by Tamieka Clarke. Chester appeared virtually from prison, where he is currently held. Two witnesses provided testimony during the proceedings.
Magistrate Clarke ruled that the evidence presented was sufficient for Chester to stand trial for attempted murder at the Suddie Supreme Criminal Court. Chester has reserved his defense and witness testimony for the higher court.
Bail was set at $500,000. Chester is expected to return to court for the next session at the Suddie Supreme Criminal Court.
