With Guyana already being the United Kingdom’s (UK) leading trade partner in the whole of the Caribbean, Guyanese businesses are looking to court trade and investment deals at the London launch of the Guyana chapter of the British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham).
Of the 50 businesses registered so far for the highly anticipated launch on September 11, 40 are said to be Guyanese registered businesses. The event will take place at the iconic Lords Cricket Ground.
The British High Commission on Tuesday hosted a press conference to promote the event at the residence in Bel Air Gardens, Georgetown. In attendance were British High Commissioner Jane Miller, Founding Chairman of BritCham Guyana Faizal Khan, Government of Guyana Chief Investment Officer Peter Ramsaroop, and Country Director of the Department of Business and Trade Sherwyn Naughton.
The British High Commissioner offered that the event is a great opportunity to see how the Guyana market can grow and be promoted in the UK.

“We have more than 1.6 billion pounds worth of trade last year and we really value that.”
Ramsaroop said the event has already been garnering positive results. “This week we met with a British company at the Building expo that is building modular homes, and we are about to go into a serious discussion with them to potentially sign an investment agreement for them to set up a manufacturing facility in Guyana. This is one plus already out of this relationship currently happening,” he said.
Attendees can expect thought provoking discussions, networking opportunities, and firsthand insights into the economic landscape of Guyana and its potential for British businesses.
“We are excited to announce the official launch of BritCham Guyana in Central London. This event marks a significant milestone in our journey to strengthen economic ties between the United Kingdom and Guyana. We aim to foster meaningful connections and facilitate opportunities for trade and investment that benefit businesses and communities alike,” Founding Chairman of BritCham Guyana Faizal Khan said.
The launch event is expected to feature distinguished speakers including government officials, business leaders, and experts in various sectors relevant to UK-Guyana relations. Topics of discussion will include opportunities in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and other key industries driving Guyana’s economic development.
BritCham Guyana is inviting interested parties including businesses, investors, government representatives, and media professionals, to join in for the landmark occasion and contribute to the advancement of UK-Guyana relations.
