The People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) government has spent more than $30 billion in develop Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice) from 2020 to date.
“In Region 10, between 2020 to 2024, we spent more than $30 billion dollars.
“That is government expenditure but also private sector investment in region 10 is over $US400 million,” President Dr Irfaan Ali made this disclosure on Wednesday while addressing residents of the region.
Altogether, President Ali said the development has provided hundreds of jobs to citizens.
Upon assuming office, Dr Ali said the PPP/C government added more than 300 new jobs at BOSAI. And before the end of this year, he said an additional 300 jobs will be created there.
While, with the development at Splashmins, he said 348 persons were employed.
And more than 125 persons were hired to build the new Marriott at Timehri, East Bank Demerara.
“And you on the highway will have the first opportunity to be among the 348 that will be permanently employed at the new Marriott Hotel that is being built at Timehri,” President Ali said.
This, he said, not only occur because of the people’s confidence in the government but mainly due to the plan which positions Guyana as a hub for investment.
