Road users urged to exercise extra caution as schools re-open Monday

As schools reopen on Monday, September 2, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is urging all road users to exercise extra caution. With children back on the roads, the GPF said it is vital to slow down, especially in school zones, and to “always yield to pedestrians.”

In a press statement, the GPF said parents are encouraged to teach their children the importance of road safety, while school children should remain alert and use pedestrian crossings at all times.

“Traffic ranks are reminded to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and courtesy and to treat each member of the public with utmost respect,” the Force reminded, adding, “Let’s all work together to keep our roads safe. Road safety is not a slogan, it is a way of life. Respect the road.”
