Police are investigating the alleged murder of Allie Mark Augustine, a 24-year-old welder of Lust-en-Rust, West Bank Demerara, which occurred at about 22:30 hrs Saturday night.
Enquiries by police disclosed that Augustine was at a birthday party at Lust-en-Rust when an argument started between him and a group of villagers over an old grievance.
The argument was followed by a scuffle between Augustine and a few young men, which then resulted in him being stabbed, after which he ran a short distance away and collapsed in a nearby yard.
The residents then summoned the Police. The body was checked, and Police said a single wound was observed to the left armpit. The body was then escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where Augustine was pronounced dead.
The body is at the Ezekiel Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Several persons were questioned, and four persons were subsequently arrested.
