Golden Jaguars Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz is anticipating strong support from fans as Guyana’s senior national men’s team takes on Suriname in their League A debut of the Concacaf Nations League on Thursday (September 5).
Shabazz said the ‘12th man’ support at the National Track and Field Centre is a critical element for the home team against a Suriname side that he described as ‘formidable.’
Game time is 16:00h and Shabazz is encouraging Guyanese to be part of a historic occasion- the country playing in League A for the first time.
“It is so important for the fans in Guyana to come out and become that ‘12th man’, that additional player to help drive the team,” Shabazz reckoned.
“You know a lot of people pay lip service and they stay at home, and they peep from their window and they listen and look on social media to see what is the result to add more lip service to it. This is an opportunity to register yourself as part of the historic moment.”
Admission to the venue is G$2,000 and tickets are available at the Guyana Football Federation’s office at Section ‘K’ Campbellville, Georgetown, and at the match venue.
