A 23-year-old Sand Pit/Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast man was arrested on Wednesday morning after he and two other suspects reportedly shot at police ranks on mobile patrol.
Reno Paton was also found with a 9mm pistol and 14 live 9mm rounds of ammunition. The incident occurred at about 04:00hrs.
Police Headquarters said that the ranks were conducting a patrol in the area when they observed Paton and two others “acting suspiciously.”
The men fired at the ranks when they approached them.
“The Police ranks returned fire, and the suspects fled in different directions,” police stated.
During the chase, Paton fell to the ground and received injuries to his face.
