Three months after he was remanded to prison after being charged with the possession of firearms, ammunition and components of firearms, Eon Fagundes was granted bail on Monday.
Fagundes, 46, was granted $350,000 for the possession of firearms, $150,000 for the possession of ammunitions and $150,000 for the possession of components of firearms.
Bail was granted by Magistrate Fabayo Azore after Fagundes’ attorney, Siand Dhurjon, made an impassioned appeal even though the prosecution opposed based on the gravity of the offences and the strength of the evidence against Fagundes.
Dhurjon, however, cited various medical issues experienced by Fagundes.
The lawyer further stated that Fagundes had been in prison for some three months but yet trial could not begin as pertinent documents and materials requested had not yet been disclosed to the defendant.
Fagundes was arrested on July 24, 2024 at his Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, Georgetown home after Police searched the premises and found over 26 high-powered rifles and handguns along with over 1,600 rounds of ammunition of different calibres.
Fagundes, along with his mother, two sisters, a niece, and a handyman were also arrested following the discovery.
The inventory included various firearms such as Sig Sauer, Ruger, FN-45, Smith and Wesson, Berretta, Spring Field, Canik, and Glock models, each accompanied by corresponding magazines and ammunition rounds.
