Guyana Latin Concert and Food Fest set for Nov 23

Carlos ‘Karlo’ Jerez and his wife Gabriela ‘Gabyluv’ Rodriguez are promoting the Guyana Latin Concert and Food Fest – a music, dance and culinary event catering to the Latin and Guyanese communities.

The event is billed for November 23, 2024 at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.

The event promises a mix of international and Guyanese artistes and Jerez said it seeks to promote the ‘One Guyana’ objective and is sponsored by ENet – Guyana’s only locally owned telecommunications provider.

Jerez, a Venezuelan, has been here in Guyana since 2010. As a singer/song writer, he told the News Room on Thursday that he ventured into promoting events a few years ago (5), hosting Latin parties in various clubs across the country.

Still, after more than 20 years, Jerez said he is still here having a good time. He and his Guyanese partners came up with the idea of the Latin concert, an event he said was done on a smaller scale in the past.

During the day, children can enter for free, play games and enjoy family oriented activities. The night will be for adults to enjoy performances by artistes from Dominica and Mexico, along with other Latin and Guyanese artistes

“I believe this event will reinforce the ‘One Guyana’ slogan. Guyanese are very generous people. They are embracing our Latin culture. They love our food, the music, they love us the people and it’s such an honour to be here today…still having a good time,” Jerez expressed.

“This is a great opportunity to have a bit of everything in one place for one day,” he added.
