A 16-year-old teenager was remanded to the Juvenile Holding Center on Tuesday after he was charged in relation to the murder of City Councillor, Kyle Anthony Solomon.
The teen’s mother turned him into the Police following the murder.
He was not required to plead to the capital offence when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ court.
Solomon, a 47-year-old businessman, was stabbed to his abdomen, chest, rib and left hand at around 04:00hrs on February 5 at D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown.
Teenager is suspect in City Councillor’s murder- Police
According to a Police report, Solomon exited his house and noticed the suspect trying to gain entry into his shop.
As such, Police said Solomon raised an alarm and the suspect began to run.
Police had noted that Solomon chased after the teenager and eventually caught up with him. A heated argument then ensued.
It was then that the teenager allegedly pulled out a knife from his pants waist and inflicted the stab wounds.
Solomon fell to the ground motionless and was subsequently pronounced dead.
An autopsy later revealed that Solomon died as a result of stab injuries.
