Inzaman Bacchus and Orrin Gibson struck centuries in a pugnacious batting display, headlining the weekend’s action in the inaugural Bartica Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament at Daag Point Ground.
Their efforts saw A&L Trendsetters posted a mammoth 309-8 in their 20 overs against Underdogs.
Bacchus smashed 101 off just 36 balls, while Gibson followed suit with 101 off 43.
Massiah Joseph (23) and Shawn Garraway (21) provided valuable support. Christopher Kassim (4-33) was the pick of the Underdogs bowlers.
In reply, Underdogs were bundled out for 127 in 17.3 overs, despite contributions from Derick Ramdahnie (36) and Curtis Simmons (24). David Williams (4-16) and Alvero DaCosta (3-16) ripped through the Underdogs batting lineup.

In the other match, Mavericks were dismissed for a paltry 115 in 16.5 overs after being put into bat by Gladiators.
Curtis James (26) and Teddy Wong (23) were the only batsmen to offer resistance, as Delroy Brown (3-5) and Marvin Peters (3-23) dismantled the Mavericks’ batting order.
Gladiators made light work of the chase, reaching 119-3 in just 11.2 overs. Yusuf Khan (60) and Raymond Jabar (39) guided their team to a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
The BPL features a unique pitch setup designed to minimize injuries: a specially prepared concrete surface for batsmen at one end and traditional mud turf for bowlers at the other.
