The left-handed McKenzie, who had played six Test matches will resume on 104, an innings that has spanned 147 balls and included nine fours and five sixes.
It is McKenzie’s second First-Class hundred.
After first innings destroyer Ronaldo Alimohamed removed Odain McCatty for five, McKenzie and Brandon King put on 132 to frustrate the Harpy Eagles.
King made his 17th First-Class fifty- a compact 53 off 110 balls (8x4s)- but was dismissed soon after by Alimohamed, who now has eight wickets in the match.
Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie added the wicket of Jermaine Blackwood for a four-ball duck, but that was the last success for the defending champions as Javelle Glenn (five not out) kept McKenzie’s company to the close.
Harpy Eagles, resuming on 68-1, declared on 192-3 when Kevlon Anderson reached his third fifty.
The right-hander followed up his first innings 116 with an unbeaten 50 off 85 balls (3x4s), with Kemol Savory unbeaten on 25 off 45 (2x4s).
Opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul made a patient 74, his first half-century of the season.
The left-hander faced 172 balls and struck three fours and a six, while skipper Tevin Imlach made 31 off 100 balls (1×6).
