MILO U-18 Schools Football kicks off with high-scoring thrillers

The 11th annual MILO U-18 Schools Football Tournament got off to a scintillating start on Saturday, as teams showcased their attacking prowess in six action-packed matches at the Ministry of Education and Queen’s College grounds.

At the ‘Education’ ground, Chase Academic Foundation made a statement of intent with a commanding 5-1 victory over Hope Secondary.

Bryan Wharton was in unstoppable form, netting four goals (2′, 16′, 25′, 68′), while Darius Chester (4′) added another. Hope Secondary’s only response came from Damario Webb (21′).

Dolphin Secondary was even more ruthless, demolishing Tutorial High 8-0. Gavin Adams (10′) opened the floodgates before Ezekiel Frank-David (12′, 60′), Jomal Williams (40′, 44′, 66′), Tyler Abrams (46′), and Rashleigh Hall (70′) completed the rout.

Waramuri Secondary also started strong, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over South Ruimveldt.

Second-half goals from Paul Lewis (57′), Rondell Peters (65′), and Erwin Booker (68′) ensured their triumph.

Three Miles Secondary got the winning goal from Lebron Mendonca

Over at the Queen’s College ground, Three Miles Secondary eked out a 1-0 win against West Demerara Secondary, with Lebron Mendonca (16′) netting the decisive goal.

Meanwhile, Abram Zuil Secondary dominated St. John’s College with a 5-0 triumph.

Omar Kendall (27′, 39′) led the charge, with Lester Noel (35′), Eron Benjamin (42′), and Jaden Evans (54′) also getting on the scoresheet.

The final match of the day saw Charlestown Secondary secure a 3-1 victory over New Central High.

D’Angelo Dick (25′), Adriel Hamilton (21′), and Adion Marks (59′) sealed the win, while Trevor Gordon (12′) provided the only goal for New Central.
