Veronica Rondon Alfaro, a Venezuelan from San Felix/El Dorado, Venezuela, was charged with attempted murder on Monday.
Police Headquarters reported that Alfaro was arrested by ranks from Eteringbang Police Station on March 13 after reportedly trying to murder Frederick Junior Stanford, a 36-year-old businessman from Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara.
It was reported that Alfaro and Stanford shared an intimate relationship at Mango Landing, Region Seven for the past year.
According to the businessman, the Venezuelan woman left his place of business and went to a nearby shop owned by a 30-year-old male Venezuelan national on March 9. While there, she and the shop owner consumed alcohol.

Subsequently, the businessman opened his door and the Venezuelan woman rushed in with a one-litre Coca-Cola bottle containing gasoline, which she allegedly threw on the victim. A scuffle then ensued between the victim and the suspect, causing some of the remaining gasoline to fall on the suspect.
Thereafter, the woman lit a lighter, causing both parties to be physically burned about the body.
Public-spirited citizens intervened and transported both the suspect and the victim to Eteringbang Police Station, where they were medevacked to Georgetown via a Guyana Defence Force aircraft to seek medical attention.
At around 11:30 hrs Monday, the woman appeared (virtually) in the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rabindranaught Singh.
