FOUR-DAY: Imlach (103*) and Anderson (101) put Harpy Eagles 239 runs ahead

Tevin Imlach and Kevlon Anderson struck masterful centuries, their third each of the 2025 West Indies Four-Day Championship, propelling the Guyana Harpy Eagles to a commanding position against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in their crucial round-six clash at Warner Park.

At stumps on day three, the Harpy Eagles reached 381-4 in their second innings, establishing a substantial 239-run lead.

However, having conceded first-innings points to the Hurricanes, the Eagles are now targeting an outright victory on the final day to maintain their position at the top of the standings heading into the decisive final round against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

The Eagles resumed their second innings on 137-1, trailing by just five runs. Imlach, leading from the front, played a captain’s innings of grit and determination. His first 50 came from 105 balls, featuring only one four and a six.

His second fifty, equally patient, required another 101 balls; his only boundary was a six.

He forged a potentially match-defining 114-run partnership with Anderson.

Imlach remained unbeaten on 103, while Kevin Sinclair was at the other end on 31*.

Anderson’s rich vein of form continued as he compiled another fluent century. His 101, coming from 246 balls and featuring ten fours, followed his unbeaten 77 in the Eagles’ first innings.

Matthew Nandu, who began the day on 53, was unable to convert his start, falling for 66 (7x4s) from 167 balls. However, his solid knock contributed to a crucial 91-run stand with Anderson.

Imlach and his team will now hope their bowlers can exploit a pitch that has favoured batting, aiming to secure a vital victory and maintain their title aspirations.
