Bandits shot dead identified

The two bandits who were shot and killed after they attempted to rob a Hadfield Street, Georgetown supermarket, have been identified.

Their names are Orwin Garraway, 22, of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme and Tyrese Adams of Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

They were among four bandits who tried to rob the Jia Jia supermarket around 19:30hrs.

The bandits were shot by the security guard of the supermarket.

Reports are that the faces of the bandirs were covered and they were both armed with handguns.

They each rushed to the cashier booths, one situated on the eastern entrance and the other on the western entrance of the supermarket and held the cashiers at gunpoint.

The bandits demanded that the cashiers hand over the money.

Upon seeing the guard, one of the suspects discharged several rounds in his direction.

So, he ran for cover and returned fire in the bandits’ direction.

Both bandits ran to exit the supermarket, and in doing so, one fell separately.

The other two bandits managed to escape west on Hadfield street.

Police recovered several live rounds at the scene.

The incident was captured on CCTV footage which monitors the supermarket. The footage is being reviewed.
