In a show of support for emerging cricketing talent, FL Sport has provided four members of the Guyana Under-15 squad heading to the West Indies Rising Stars 50-Over Championship in Antigua and Barbuda with a timely monetary boost.
The contribution benefited Richard Ramdeholl, Patrice Fraser, Usain Fredricks, and Shahid Ramzan ahead of the tournament, which commences on April 15.
On Friday, John Ramsingh, Director at FL Sport, presented the financial support to the promising quartet. He urged the young cricketers to continue striving for excellence, both for their personal development and now as representatives of Guyana on the regional stage.
Highlighting FL Sport’s commitment to cricket as part of their corporate social responsibility, Ramsingh assured the rest of the Guyana Under-15 squad that strong performances during the upcoming championship could also lead to future support from his company and other potential sponsors.
Regarding the four selected players, Ramsingh emphasised their discipline and evident talent, which was showcased during the recent local tournaments.
He believed that even small rewards could motivate young athletes to set and pursue even greater ambitions in their cricketing careers.
Ramsingh advised the youngsters to stay grounded in the fundamentals and adhere to the guidance of their coaches.
While acknowledging the nation’s hopes for a title victory, he encouraged them to primarily focus on giving their best effort and enjoying the experience as they build what he hopes will be long and successful careers in the sport.
Furthermore, Ramsingh hinted at potential opportunities for some players to feature in the upcoming Cricket For Charity match, a highlight of the Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast, another tournament organised by FL Sport.
He also expressed his aspiration to see players who compete in the Future Warriors for Primary Schools tournament, powered by ExxonMobil and organised by FL Sport, transition to hardball cricket and eventually mature into national cricketers.
