Hamlette Henrico, a 31-year-old resident of Nappi Village, Region Nine, died on Thursday after he was involved in a motorcycle accident along the Nappi Trail.
Police Headquarters said the accident occurred around 18:15 hrs on Thursday. Also involved in the accident were Deon McDonald, who was riding motorcycle #CG 6196 and Evangelist Gabriel the pillion rider with McDonald.
Initial investigations revealed that Henrico was proceeding south along the left side of Nappi Road at an alleged fast rate while McDonald was on the said road proceeding west, approaching an intersection.
It is alleged that as McDonald approached the intersection, he failed to stop and made a right turn into the path of the driver of the other motorcycle, causing Henrico to take evasive action to avoid a collision.
This proved futile and resulted in a collision, as a result, both motorcyclists and the pillion rider were thrown off their motorcycles and received injuries.
A doctor who was nearby rendered assistance. He examined Henrico at the scene but pronounced him dead. The other driver and pillion were picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Nappi Health Centre. They were later transferred to Lethem Regional Hospital via Ambulance.
On arrival at the hospital, they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted. The body of Henrico was later escorted to the Lethem Mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examination. An investigation is in progress.
