Deported drug trafficker Ghalee Khan charged with murder

Ghalee Khan, the deported drug trafficker who shot and killed his partner Marissa Beete before turning the gun on himself, was charged with murder on Tuesday.

Police received legal advice to charge him with murder, and this was done on Monday when he was discharged from the hospital.

Khan appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison. The matter has been adjourned until May 27, 2025.

Marissa Beete opened the door for her ex Ghalee Khan to ‘talk.’ Then he killed her

Khan is accused of murdering Beete, an employee of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, on the evening of April 8.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred after Khan visited Beete’s Recht-door-Zee, Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara home. The couple had shared a two-year relationship; they were not on speaking terms at the time of the incident.

When Khan showed up at the house, Beete’s mother reportedly told her not to open the door. However, she eventually did and the mother left the couple to talk.

Shortly after, an explosion was heard. Beete was found lying on the ground. She was bleeding.

Khan then fired a second shot at Bette before he went behind a door in the house and shot himself to his head.

Khan is known to law enforcement officials. He was deported from the US in 2024 after completing a prison sentence for drug trafficking.
