The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has completed the second block of its C License coaching course, as it steps up efforts to improve coaching standards nationwide.
The course, held at the National Training Centre in Providence, focused on session planning and delivery, aligning with Concacaf’s key coaching principles: leadership, management, planning and preparation, and teaching and coaching.
A significant addition to this training block was a compulsory child safeguarding module, ensuring coaches can create a safe and respectful environment for young players.
The participants included youth national team coaches and those working at clubs nationwide, as the GFF aims to strengthen grassroots and developmental levels of the game. The course also ensures coaches meet club licensing requirements and Concacaf’s minimum coaching standards.
The C Licence course is structured in two parts.
Block 1, held from October 28 to November 1, 2024, involved face-to-face sessions on technical and tactical skills.
Coaches then gained practical experience by applying these skills in real match situations before returning for Block 2.
The GFF now plans to run the C Licence course continuously throughout the year.
This is part of its broader strategy to raise coaching standards, increase access to formal coaching education, and support the long-term development of football in Guyana.
GFF Technical Director Bryan Joseph said: “The coaching education pathway is a cornerstone of our football development strategy. By investing in the growth and qualification of our coaches, we are directly impacting the quality of players being developed and, ultimately, the future of Guyanese football.”
