President Dr. Irfaan Ali has asked the Commissioner of Police to assemble a special team to lead the investigation into every circumstance surrounding the death of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge.
President Ali made the statement Thursday as shockwaves rippled through the nation following the discovery of the child’s body in a hotel pool.
“We must get to the truth of everything that transpired and no resource or effort will be spared in determining this,” he said.
President Ali’s emphatic comments came moments after Adrianna was found dead in the pool at the Double Day Hotel — the same pool that had reportedly been searched the day before following her disappearance.
The President vowed that “whatever specialized resources are required… will be provided,” and extended the support of the nation to Adrianna’s grieving family.
“Additionally I have asked that the police explain in detail every action taken from the time the matter was reported.”

Adrianna had gone to the hotel’s pool with her grandmother, Carol Xavier, and other relatives on Wednesday afternoon around 1:02 PM. When she vanished soon after, relatives and police conducted an initial search of the hotel — including the pool — but found nothing. Her body was only discovered the Thursday morning, floating in that same pool, with visible marks of violence on her face and body.
The revelation that the child may have been moved or harmed after the initial search has ignited accusations of foul play, negligence, and a potential cover-up. The community erupted into protest on Thursday, with hundreds of demonstrators blocking roads, burning tires, and eventually setting the hotel ablaze in an outpouring of anger and grief.
