Assistant Commissioner of Police Khalid Mandall, Commander of Regional Division #3, has been placed on administrative leave as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Adrianna Younge, the Guyana Police Force has confirmed.
The move, in line with the Force’s Standard Operating Procedure, comes as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Younge’s death.
On Friday, the Commissioner of Police said the Commander was moved from his post as Commander of Regional Police Division Three and replaced by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mahendra Siwnarine.
Thus far, police have questioned the proprietor and staff of Double Day Hotel and Bar, where the incident occurred, along with several officers from Regional Division #3.
Three police ranks have also been placed under close arrest.
The investigation remains active, with officers continuing to interview persons of interest.
Meanwhile, the family of Adriana Younge has selected an independent pathologist who is expected to arrive in Guyana on Sunday, 27 April, to conduct a post-mortem examination alongside the Force’s official pathologist.
The Guyana Police Force has stated that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
