Milo School Football: Chase Academy advances to final after sudden-death thriller

Defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation survived match point twice, defeating Waramuri 9-8 on sudden-death penalties in a dramatic Milo/Massy Secondary Schools Football Championship semifinal.

The match, held at the Ministry of Education Ground on Carifesta Avenue, ended 3-3 after regular time, leading to a penalty shootout.

Waramuri twice had the chance to win the match but failed to convert.

In the fifth round of penalties, with the score tied at 4-4, the Waramuri goalkeeper saved the decisive Chase Academy penalty. However, Waramuri then missed their own attempt.

The drama continued into the seventh round, with the score locked at 6-6. Waramuri then inexplicably fired their penalty wide of the right post.

Chase Academy ultimately prevailed in the sudden-death shootout.

In the other semifinal, Dolphin Secondary defeated West Ruimveldt 3-1.

The final of the Milo Schools U18 Football Tournament will see Chase Academy face Dolphin Secondary on Sunday, April 27, at the Ministry of Education Ground, located on Carifesta Avenue in Georgetown, at 7:00 p.m.

The third-place playoff between West Ruimveldt and Waramuri Secondary will be played at 17:00 hrs on the same day, preceding the final.
