Guyana Rainforest Rangers suffered their second consecutive defeat in the West Indies Breakout T20 League, losing to Trinidad and Tobago Legions at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Saturday evening.
The Legions set a formidable total of 173 for 6 in their 20 overs, a score driven by stellar batting performances from Joshua Da Silva and Jyd Goolie.
Da Silva anchored the innings with a composed 68 off 36 balls, demonstrating excellent shot selection and patience at the crease. His partnership with Goolie, who blasted a rapid 49 off 30 deliveries, provided the team with the momentum needed to reach a competitive total.
Guyana’s bowlers tried to stem the flow of runs but struggled against the disciplined Legions batting line-up. Jediah Blades and Ashmead Nedd were the most effective with the ball, claiming two wickets each.
Despite their efforts, the total proved challenging for the Rainforest Rangers to chase.
Kemol Savory’s gritty 33 off 28 balls and Kevlon Anderson’s 27 off 20 provided stability at the top. Rivaldo Clarke added 23, but the innings lacked the explosiveness needed to overhaul the target.
Joshua James spearheaded the Legions’ bowling effort, claiming three wickets for 35 runs.
Mikkel Govia and Johann Layne supported well, taking two wickets each and tightening the screws in the crucial stages of the innings.
Guyana’s next match is on Tuesday against Jamaica Titans from 14:00h.
