Young talents excel in East Bank U-14 Football League

Young talent was displayed as the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Boys U14 League kicked off on Saturday with thrilling, high-scoring encounters at the Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Centre at Providence.

Friendship Hit Six Past Kuru Kuru

Friendship All Stars FC delivered a dominant performance in the day’s opening match, dispatching Kuru Kuru FC 6-1.

Jermin Fraser set the tone early with a 10th-minute strike, before Phillip Sealey added a second just after the half-hour mark.

Brandon Goocharan then bagged a brace (40′, 59′), showcasing impressive composure in front of goal. Not to be outdone, Brandon Bruce also netted two in quick succession (49′, 50′) to seal a comprehensive victory for Friendship.

Ammal Bayer scored a consolation goal for Kuru Kuru in the 32nd minute.

Friendship All Stars will now look to build on this emphatic win when they face Timehri United next Saturday.

Forde Double Fires Herstelling Past Police

The second match of the day saw a more tightly contested affair, with Herstelling Raiders FC eventually overcoming Guyana Police Force U14 Boys 4-1.

Samuel Gasper opened the scoring for Herstelling in the 32nd minute, capitalising on a well-worked set-piece. However, the second half belonged to Herstelling’s 12-year-old star, Wayshawn Forde.

Forde stunned the crowd with a brilliant solo effort and left-footed finish in the 39th minute, before adding another two minutes later with a composed right-footed shot.

Gasper then added his second of the game in the 44th minute to secure the Raiders’ victory. The Police managed a late consolation through Kerwin Chance (47′).

Forde’s two goals see him leap to the top of the league’s scoring charts with 11 goals in just five matches.

Swan was awarded a walkover victory against Agricola as another result of the day.

The EBFA Boys U14 League continues Saturday.
