Two persons nabbed with gun, ammo & ganja 

Two persons who were in the vicinity of the Royal Hotel on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, were caught with a pistol, a quantity of ammunition, and about eight pounds of marijuana on Friday.

A release from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) noted that ranks went to the location, acting on information received. The two individuals were intercepted and searched.

Eight parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, alongside a CZ pistol and 19 live rounds, were found during the search.

The individuals were arrested and taken to CANU Headquarters. The suspected narcotic was positively identified as cannabis and weighed; it amounted to 3.8 kilogrammes (or about 8.3 pounds).

CANU said investigations are ongoing.
