Two persons, a 40-year-old driver and his 26-year-old passenger, died after the car they were in was involved in an accident along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway on Monday morning.
Dead are Kowmalram Ramin of West Coast Berbice and Fitzgerald Authur Carter, a resident of Rosignal, West Berbice.
Police said they are investigating the accident which occurred at about 05:10 hrs in the vicinity of Adventure.
The victims were in motor car, PLL 6554 driven by Ramin.
Police Headquarters, in a statement, said investigations revealed that minibus, BAE 1526, was heading north along the highway and the car was proceeding in the opposite direction.
According to the Police, the bus driver, 32-year-old Immanuel Dorris, of Mackenzie Linden claimed that he noticed the car approaching him at a fast rate.
He said as the car approached a section of the road under construction, Ramin lost control, the vehicle started to skid and ended up in the path of his minibus.
The bus driver reportedly told investigators that he applied brakes but was unable to avoid the collision.
At the time, passengers were onboard the minibus.
Dorris and the passengers were taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where they were all examined. They were kept for observation.
Ramin and Carter were taken out of the vehicle and taken to the said hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Their two bodies were escorted to Linden Hospital Complex Mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examinations.
