A man was discovered dead in the vicinity of the New Amsterdam Market on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as 49-year-old Tyrone April, was of no fixed abode.
Reports are that on Saturday, at approximately 7:00 hrs, April was seen lying motionless in an alleyway between Payless Variety Store, China Supermarket, and the petrol station opposite the New Amsterdam Market at 14 Strand Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
He was found wearing camouflage brown trousers and grey and white trainers, lying on his back with his hands curled to his chest.
An examination revealed partially healed scars on both knees and elbows, suggesting recent injuries, but no other signs of violence were present.
