Essequibo contractor dies after crashing into trucks at Riverstown

An accident claimed the life of 28-year-old Kevin Bacchus, a young contractor from Queenstown, Essequibo on Wednesday night along the Riverstown Public Road.

Reports indicate that Bacchus, who had stopped in Riverstown to carry out work on his vehicle after returning from Georgetown, entered a canter to transport materials.

While returning, the canter reportedly collided with two trucks and a low-bed trailer around 21:30 hrs.

Emergency services responded, but Bacchus was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain unclear, and police investigations are ongoing.

Bacchus’ death marks the third road fatality on the Essequibo Coast within the past three weeks, following recent accidents at Queenstown and Dartmouth.
