Canadian Airline, Air Transat, is scheduled to begin operating here on December 16, 2025, making it the 10th international airline to enter Guyana’s market.
“I believe with the good support and the rational, responsible actions of the Guyanese people, on December 16th, we will be able to stand here and welcome… Air Transat from Canada,” Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, recently said.
Edghill made this disclosure while addressing the inaugural ceremony held to welcome KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to Guyana.
Air Transat will commence non-stop flights between Toronto-Pearson and Georgetown airports from December 16, 2025.
The service will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays,
Over the past four years, there has been an increase in foreigners coming to Guyana. Many of them have been travelling here to explore and invest in business opportunities.
Edghill said Guyana has been positioned as a “major” hub of connectivity.
“The more carriers we get into the CJIA and into Guyana, we are opening up the world in such positive ways,” he said.
“So while we are now in the stage where we have all these airlines that are coming we have to grow service at the airport to facilitate them,” Edghill said.
