‘Not surprised!’- Sammy on Pooran’s decision to quit international cricket

West Indies Head Coach Daren Sammy said he is not surprised by Nicholas Pooran’s decision to retire from international cricket at 29.

Pooran called time on his international career this week, saying the decision came after much thought and reflection.

The announcement shocked the region, especially with the next World T20 just months away.

The left-hander, one of the most sought-after player on the global T20 circuit, ended as the most capped West Indian in T20 Internationals with 106 matches and the leading T20I run-scorer with 2,275 runs.

Sammy, responding to questions on the sudden retirement, boldly predicted that more West Indian players will follow the path of Pooran.
