Golden Grove woman goes missing in Suriname, husband claims she was shot

Authorities in Guyana and Suriname are investigating the disappearance of 34-year-old Coretta Blair Sandy, also known as “Mindy”, a resident of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara. She vanished while on a trip to Suriname with her husband, Terrence Glasgow.

According to media reports out of Suriname, Sandy travelled from Cayenne, French Guiana to Suriname earlier this week with Glasgow, reportedly on a business-related stopover. However, she has not been seen or heard from since Wednesday, June 11.

Glasgow, who is now in custody in Guyana, has told Sandy’s relatives a disturbing account—claiming that the couple was caught in a shooting incident while in Suriname. He alleges that Sandy was shot in the head during the ordeal and died. However, he says he fled the scene and returned to Guyana without her body and cannot confirm the exact location of the incident.

With no confirmation from Surinamese authorities and Sandy’s body yet to be located, her family is growing increasingly desperate. Loved ones have taken to social media to share photos, appeal for information, and plead with anyone who may have seen her to speak up.

Relatives have also announced intentions to travel to Suriname to carry out their own search, hoping to find answers about what truly happened to Sandy.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues on both sides of the border. Anyone who has information about the woman’s whereabouts is urged to contact the police or reach out to her family directly.
