Police are investigating the alleged murder of Rayon Lall, a 23-year-old porter who resided in Port Kaituma, North West District.
The suspect has been identified as Mark Junior George, also known as ‘Killa’, a 24-year-old gold miner of Albouystown, Georgetown. Police said he was arrested hours later at Train Line, Port Kaituma.
He had also previously served a three-year sentence for a narcotics offence.
During his arrest, George reportedly told the Police, “The man violated me.” Police said George was wearing the same clothes with which he allegedly committed the act.
According to the Police report, Lall was brought to the Port Kaituma Police Station by Ewart Mingo, another porter with a stab wound to his chest.
A Police rank promptly escorted Lall to the Port Kaituma Hospital for medical attention. However, while receiving treatment, he succumbed. The body was subsequently placed in the Port Kaituma Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The investigation is ongoing.
