Rosignol family’s house destroyed by fire

A fire has destroyed the home of a Guyana Fire Service Emergency Medical Technician in Rosignol, a devastating event that unfolded on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking with reporters in an interview, Ceryrl Agard, an EMT from Rosignol Village, West Bank Berbice stated that he was at work at the New Amsterdam Fire Station when he received a call around 15:30 hours about the fire.

Immediately concerned, Agard rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, he found his two-bedroom wooden and concrete house fully engulfed in flames.

The Onverwagt Fire Station responded swiftly, but the damage was extensive.

Agard said his wife and three children were at home when the fire broke out. Fortunately, they were awakened by smoke and managed to escape unharmed.

Tragically, important documents and many of Agard’s possessions were lost, including six motorcycles he was in the process of repairing. He expressed deep gratitude to the villagers who assisted in removing two cars from the property amid the chaos.

“I am seeking help because in this situation for a young man like me who has family, to build back a home like this, is very hard especially how coast of living high in Guyana,” he stated.
