Jagdeo says PPP fundraising activities attracting thousands

General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo on Thursday said the party is enjoying the support of thousands of citizens, evidenced by the huge turnout at two recent fundraising activities.

Jagdeo, who is currently Guyana’s Vice President, spoke about the party activities on Thursday during his weekly press conference.

He said that the first fundraising activity, a dinner at Leonora, West Coast Demerara, attracted about 8,000 attendees and estimated that about another 2,000 persons were unable to attend because of substantial traffic congestion on the West Coast that night.

As he thanked people for their overwhelming support, Jagdeo also said he wanted to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“I want to apologise to all people stuck on the road, I don’t think the arrangements were in place… I don’t think they anticipated that level of success,” he said.

Building on the momentum evident from the support for the party’s fundraising activities, Jagdeo said the party will soon launch its official 2025 Elections Campaign.

Both the official campaign launch and presentation of the manifesto will be done sometime in early July, the General Secretary said.
